This is my Gammill Classic long-arm machine. My machine is hand-driven (no computer). Consequently, I'm in charge of the "driving", and the designs you see on this quilt are freehand. The quilt hanging in the background is one of my favorites, with curved piecing.
I have made several quilts that I'm proud to show. I love the quilt in red, gold and green with needle-turn applique. The project with black flannel (below) was an early project that I did with bright wool pieces, and is hand-sewn blanket stitching. Wool is wonderful to work with and so forgiving.
I loved the quilt "transportation" so much that I made it for each one of my four grandsons. This was a panel that was cut up and put together with an alternate block. Very easy. Then I fell in love with the "Freddy.com" quilt and I made it at least four times in different colors. ( See the blue one below)The idea on this quilt is that each (nearly) fabric is a different "dot" fabric. (I know what you're thinking!....I'm nuts, right?)
Another "dot.com" quilt sample. You can use go crazy with these fabrics. How fun and modern can you get?
More samples of appliqué. The baby quilt on the left is a simple nine-patch with an alternate block, using 30's reproduction prints and appliquéd hearts and fiqures on the border. The little red wall hanging is machine appliqués around the Mary Jane shoes.
If you like color, the Hungry Caterpillar quilt turned out very cute. This was a panel and coordinating borders. Noah's Ark is machine appliquéd.
My most recent appliqué quilt. I'm so proud of my Family Reunion quilt. It is hanging in a judged and juried quilt show in Portland, Oregon. This show is the largest quilt show in Oregon, and I was honored to have it chosen. The names of my first cousins are embroidered on the leaves of the trees, each branch representing the different families. There's much to look at: ice cream maker, corn-on-the-cob, grandma's hat, pie, desserts, potato salad.....you name it. My favorite scripture is also embroidered with family names and different verses.
